The closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games takes place on Sunday.

The Olympic Games officially opened in Paris on Friday, July 26, although some team events began on July 24. The last day of athletic competition is August 11, the same day as the closing ceremony. The ceremony, which will feature a parade of flags and athletes, will begin at 2 p.m. ET at the Stade de France. The closing ceremony in Tokyo lasted about three hours.

As confirmed by several media outlets, Grammy-winning artist H.E.R. will perform the U.S. national anthem as part of the opening ceremony of the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Tony Estanguet, President of the Paris 2024 Committee, declared that the ceremony will be "solemn and emotional, but also a moment of celebration..... Innovative, surprising and brilliant, these ceremonies already promise to be very impactful.”

Aside from promises of a dazzling onstage performance and hints at several pre-filmed Cruise stunts, most of the ceremony remains shrouded in mystery.

Thomas Jolly, the same creative director who directed the much talked-about opening ceremony, has dubbed the closing show "Records". Performers will include acrobats, circus artists, dancers, gymnasts and aerial ballet dancers performing on metal structures representing the Olympic rings. The ceremonies will also include speeches, a final medal ceremony and the extinguishing of the Olympic flame before the Olympic flag is ceremoniously handed over to Los Angeles, which will host the Summer Games in 2028. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass will attend the ceremony.

"World-renowned singers" will take the stage, according to the official Olympic website. Oscar and five-time Grammy-winning American R&B singer H.E.R. will sing the U.S. national anthem. Variety reported Thursday, citing several anonymous sources, that Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and Red Hot Chili Peppers are among the artists who will take the stage. According to the report, the artists will be seen in a mix of live and pre-recorded performances.

This week it was reported that Cruise, who is filming "Mission: Impossible 8" in Europe, will perform a stunt at the closing ceremony. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a clip of the movie star skydiving to the Hollywood sign is expected to play a role in the handover to Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympics, and Cruise was reportedly spotted filming a scene - possibly for the ceremony - in May that involved a motorcycle and a large flag.
